After you complete ASA101 or ASA103, ASA recommends that each ASA level be augmented with 25-30 hours of practice, but many students do not have access to a sailboat to practice on.

If you want more helm time before taking the next class, before chartering, before purchasing your own sailboat, or if it has been a while since you took your last class, one of our two Practice Sailing Programs described below may be what you need to turn you into a confident sailor.

With either of our Practice Sail Programs, you do not have to take the written test, so it is all fun and great practice.

In addition to our own alumni, students from other ASA affiliated sailing schools are welcome to participate in Delmarva Sailing School Practice Sail Programs. We allow this because we feel confident that once they experience the quality of our classes, they will not want to go anywhere else.

These two unique Practice Sail Programs are reason enough by itself for any serious student to choose Delmarva Sailing School for their sailing education.

Group Practice Sail Program:

Once you get ASA certified for a ASA101, ASA103, ASA104, or ASA118 from any ASA Affiliated Sailing School, you can retake the same class for 50% off the Delmarva Sailing School List price for the same class.

Group Practice Sail students are mixed into our Group ASA Sailing Classes with first time students but do not need to retake the written test so it is all about helm time and fun.

You can participate in the Practice Sailing Program on any date shown on the Classes, Prices, and Pay by Credit Card page unless the class is already full.  Practice Sail Program classes are identified as ASA101 Practice Sail Program, ASA103 Practice Sail Program, etc.  Prices for Practice Sail Program classes are also shown on this page.  Once you select a class date, please contact Captainmike@delmarvasailingschool.com or 215-499-0335 to see if the class date you want is available.  Once you confirm availability, you can sign up by again visiting the Classes, Prices, and Pay by Credit Card page.  

Private Practice Sail Program:

If you would prefer to not retake a Group ASA Sailing Class with first time students, and just want sail time with an instructor on board who simply monitors what you are doing and offers advice when needed, our Private Practice Sail Program may be what you are looking for to gain more practice on the water sailing.

Price for a full day of sailing with a competent sailing instructor and USCG Captain on our sailboat are shown on the Classes, Prices, and Pay by Credit Card page.  2-5 students are allowed for the same price. One full day minimum from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
