Class Description:
ASA116 Dinghy and Outboard Endorsement: 1 Day on the water Dinghy and Outboard Engine class. Learn to safely operate a dinghy with an outboard motor in a variety of environments, including operating from and to a dock and the Haven Harbour Marina white sand beach. Learn basic terminology for a dinghy and outboard engine, safety gear and procedures, how to tow a dinghy, dinghy care and maintenance, dinghy operation and maneuvering in straight line and figure eight, beach and dock landings and departures, dinghy anchoring, and knot tying. Learn outboard engine operating procedures including start procedures, checking fuel supply, checking fuel hose connections, fuel tank air vent, priming bulb, choke, start cord, stop button/kill switch, and gear shifting, stopping, and throttle in reverse and forward. Class taught in Rock Hall, MD at Haven Harbor South marina. Class size: 2-3 students. Prerequisites: None. Price includes ASA Going Ashore Made Easy Textbook, ASA Test, ASA Certification, and sleep aboard for free on one of our 39 foot Pearson sloops the evening before the class begins. Class Time 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Combine the ASA118 docking class with our ASA116 Dinghy and Outboard Endorsement and you will be all set to either dock in a slip or dinghy into shore while your sailboat is at anchor or on a mooring ball.
